Our Services

At Open Roads Community Center, we deliver integrated programs in mental health, social services, and education to meet the needs of at-risk youth, underserved communities, and families across New Jersey.

Our trauma-informed approach ensures every individual receives culturally responsive, evidence-based support that addresses the whole person — mind, body, and spirit.

Building Stronger Futures in New Jersey

Holistic Wellness & Mental Health Services

Underserved communities experience disproportionately high rates of:

  • Anxiety and depression

  • Substance use and addiction

  • Domestic and community violence

  • Intergenerational trauma

  • Chronic stress-related health conditions

  • Barriers to culturally responsive mental health care

Our goal is to improve mental, emotional, and physical health outcomes by delivering accessible, culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and holistic care to underserved populations across the lifespan.

Education & Career Development

Underserved communities face:

  • High chronic absenteeism in schools

  • Low literacy and math proficiency

  • Low high school graduation rates

  • Youth impacted by trauma, poverty, and family instability

  • Limited access to culturally responsive academic and enrichment support

Our goal is to improve academic achievement, school engagement, attendance, and social-emotional development for underserved communities youth through integrated academic support, mentorship, and trauma-informed youth development services.

Family Reunification & Immigration Support

Underserved communities experience:

  • High rates of domestic violence and family conflict

  • Child welfare and court involvement

  • Parental separation, incarceration, and substance use

  • Trauma-related barriers to safe parent-child contact

  • Limited access to culturally responsive, trauma-informed supervised visitation services

Without safe, structured visitation, children risk:

  • Disrupted attachment

  • Emotional distress and behavioral regression

  • Prolonged family separation and system involvement

Underserved communities are home to a large immigrant and refugee population facing:

  • Immigration-related trauma, fear, and uncertainty

  • Limited access to culturally and linguistically responsive legal and mental health supports

  • Family separation and reunification challenges

  • Domestic violence and exploitation among immigrant survivors

  • Barriers to education, employment, healthcare, and public benefits

  • Chronic stress, anxiety, and depression tied to immigration status

Our goal is to ensure safe, developmentally appropriate, and trauma-informed parent-child contact, while supporting family stabilization, reunification when appropriate, and child well-being, in alignment with court orders and child welfare standards.

Independent Living Housing & Stability

Underserved communities and surrounding urban areas experience:

  • High rates of youth and young adult homelessness

  • Housing instability among aging-out foster youth and court-involved youth

  • Young adults fleeing domestic violence, family rejection, or unsafe homes

  • Barriers to affordable housing, credit, and employment

  • Fragmented access to housing resources and systems navigation

Young adults without stable housing face:

  • Increased risk of exploitation, violence, and trafficking

  • Worsening mental health and substance use

  • Disrupted education and employment pathways

  • Chronic homelessness without early intervention

Our goal is to prevent homelessness, stabilize housing, and support successful transitions to independent living for young adults through housing advocacy, Housing First–aligned placement, intensive case management, life skills development, and systems navigation.
